Some numbers

I wrote "In the regular monthly copy of June, I have 1075 textures and 1051 material definitions. Some of the textures are exact copy of crytek HD textures, others are Crytek HD textures with some modifications and a lot of them are new from scratch textures. All materials have modifications on some way."

In last night count: 1894 textures and 1297 materials. I want to release a beta this week so everybody that wants try it can share problems or bugs (I will finish 'maple tree leaves' texture after launching the beta).

I've tweaked a little more the recommended settings. I have very similar performance with SSAO than SSDO with only one 480GTX so recommended settings uses SSDO now. Particles are tweaked too, shadows (no more shadows cut) and a few more cvars. I hope you to try the recommended settings before your eyes will go to the "ultra" word.

In Antialias side, the final options are:

  • No antialiasing
  • No shaderAA ingame + Ultra SMAA filter
  • Ultra FXAA ingame (too blurred but subpixel information) + SweetFX (Ultra SMAA + LumaSharpen). LumaSharpen fights FXAA blur.

  1. I've got a HD7970 Crossfire ready to test how AMD handles this. Looking forward to seeing your work from behind the controls.

    Currently I'm averaging just under 80FPS @ 1920x1200 on Ultra with r_PostMSAA = 2 and r_UseEdgeAA = 3

  2. I am waiting impatiently to test your work.

I think my GTX460 OC 2gb will be a good test for recommended settings.

Is your recommended settings include Bokeh DOF ?

  3. Can you PLEASE give us the original AA options as well? I not a fan of sharpening.
Or at least present a Lossless .PNG comparison of the original AA vs the new options! (Which is something I would VERY MUCH like to see)

I actually liked the original Post-MSAA and the temporal AA they do with the motionblur. And I would at least like that option to use if any need arises. After all, 3.0 is offline now. So those who like or used it before no longer have the option.

That said, these shots do look great! But being JPGs don't help them out. JPGs hurt quality. .PNGs are much better and are lossless.

    1. What AA config you use in crysis 2? So I can compare with it. I'm testing a lot and new modes are far better than originals, but it's only my opinion. And you are correct, eyes accustomed much to soft and blurry images and then defined images seem less real. It also happens to me, so I like the FXAA + SweetFX mix, is a bit more blurred and movie like. Anyway, you can always change manually the values in my config files.

    2. Included all previous AA options in config tool XD

  4. hi i will try on my on my gtx 570 1.28gb i always turn off motion blur makes me feel sick in all games but AA does not work correctly. in other games i use 4xmsaa + injectsmaa as i really really hate jaggies or if older game nvinspector and force hi aa options if my card can handle it. what are the best for yours as there is no real msaa for cryengine3 so cant mix real aa with post aa?

  5. It's a shame that the new SMAA 2x and 4x dont work via injector, ti must be incorporated inside game engine.

MALDO, coduld you ask Jorge Jimenez if there is a way to use this with your mod? Their Eugrographics paper demonstrating 2x and 4x was with Crysis 2.

  6. Hey Maldo,

    Nice work.
Those texture numbers really scare me :P

Will users with 1Gb vram be able to run it at 1080p?
Also will there be a LITE version so that 512/768MB users can enjoy it?

    Thank you

  7. Maldo, have a question. Will the Blackfire 2, QM and music mods in 3.0 come back for 4.0, or will you have different ToD and other mods integrated with 4.0?

    Will be running 4.0 on gtx670/i7 2600k.

For reference, with above system specs, I can run 3.0 + blackfire 2 + qm mod at ultra preset (minus particle and ssdo) at 60fps for the most part, alt+enter works very well. Also, I actually preferred FXAA low over FXAA high in 3.0, high's sharpening filter make the jaggies more noticeable. But FXAA low in 3.0 looked great, less jaggies and not too blurry, imo.

For 4.0, I guess the closest to previous FXAA low would be the FXAA + SweetFX mix?

Sorry for long post, looking forward to 4.0, thank you for all the hard work you put into it.

  13. Calm down, it's all about quality and Maldo is doing this in his free time so a little bit more respect please

  14. Do you really think if you post your pointless comments he will finish the job sooner. Let him do his job properly and remember it's not the only thing that he must do every day. The man has a personal life to. If he hurry then you will say "MaLDo you forgot that; MaLDo you miss this".

    Many greetings MaLDo !!

  15. Yes, Maldo, you're doing a fantastic job here, 99.63% ;) of us are just grateful that you are putting all the effort, perfection and time into it that you are. Although I am very excited and can't wait to play v4.0, I can wait until you are sure it's how you want it to be.

    Cheers!

  16. Looking Ace! The only thing I don't like is that the particle board and the 'POST NO BILLS' painted sign are all exactly alike in the texture. With the exact same weathering pattern and decal locations. For me, that would instantly break the immersion. If it's not too much to ask, could you whip up one or two more versions? If you need some donation motivation, tell me your rate (though I will only donate again if that is delivered).

  18. I think for every day that goes by, after Maldo said "beta this week," I check this blog double the amount of the day before. Seriously, I've checked at least 8 times today...

¿Has podido verlos?

    ¡Saludos!
